I have very fond memories of my work with the Clowns Funny and Solidarity of the NGO Clowns without borders. It seems like yesterday, but it's been more than 20 years of all of those performances in which we brought smiles to children who needed them.
It all started with a call from my friend “black“ who asked me if I would accompany her on an expedition to El Salvador and Guatemala. Of course I said yes, for me it was a privilege to be able to travel for a charitable cause, and that would represent this prestigious NGOS.
The project of Clowns Funny and Solidarity was to expand to other countries, and I have stories of all and each one of them. Work in countries of the third world was very rewarding personally and professionally. I walked and I Met many peoples are wonderful but most of all I am left with the memory of the people who was very kind.
When we went to Palestine met a very different reality. When you reach a checkpoint we were greeted at gunpoint to give the back and we went from there. They did not want us to do shows in the mood for palestinian children. Luckily there was a happy ending, thanks to a number of efforts finally let us go and make our performances.
One day we ran out halfway through the show because they were military troops, we felt so much concern that we went with what made and painted clowns. At a checkpoint, we present the passports and the guards looked at us puzzled. We had more fears than certainties.
To wrap things up, these stories of Clowns Funny and Solidarity of the NGO, and I also remember the trip Iraq in 2003. We did features on incredible places, in hospitals, refugee camps, and in the street surrounded by tanks of the war.
We were deluded in thinking that we we would be the masters, but it is far from the reality, what happened was that they taught us to us. I began to understand that we have so many reasons to be grateful in life for everything we have and live as far away from these armed conflicts.
We also think that the language would be a barrier, but we discovered that we could always understand each other through the smiles. I came back from these expeditions different and changed. I thank life the opportunity to have met all these wonderful people and realities so different.
